Newman's Horseradish
Family-owned and operated, proudly South Australian! Fred Newman, Tea Tree Gully SA’s original founder of Newman’s Horseradish, established it in 1925.
The family purchased the business in 1947 from JA Meakins. They continued to operate the business out of the original premises. However, with the business booming and the need for more land, Brian Meakins, the son of JA Meakins, decided to move to Langhorne Creek in 1995 to expand his business.
Brian Meakins and Anne Meakins have grown the business by using the original recipe.
Brian and Anne, along with their staff, perform all stages of production at site. They have expanded their product range to include a horseradish dip, beetroot relish and mustards.
Horseradish is traditionally used as a condiment with meat, but there are many ways to use it! You can add it to sauces, dips, and salad dressings. Horseradish is rich in vitamin C and many people eat it raw to relieve sinus congestion and colds.
This is an example of value-adding and they are now in their 70th year of producing the best horseradish products in South Australia.
